LISTENING PARTY ON AUGUST 16, 2024

LOS ANGELES — Independent solo artist, Dillon Baldassero (aka Leah’s bf) is releasing his EP titled ‘Pareidolia’ on August 16, 2024. The EP will consist of five instrumental ambient-pop works, combining Dillon’s influences from artists in the pop/hyperpop sphere (SOPHIE, AG Cook, Charli XCX) with his classical and cinematic compositional roots.

Notes Baldassero: “Pareidolia refers to the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern (ie. Seeing God’s face on a piece of toast). The aim of this music is the same; to create an entrancing, dynamic sonic space for the listener, inviting them to reflect on whatever mental imagery, narratives or emotions that arise as they listen. I can’t promise you’ll see God, but the music will take you to some pretty cool places.”

The EP will be available on all streaming platforms August 29th. Join Baldassero for an exclusive early listening party on August 16th. For more details about the release follow Baldassero on Instagram.

Dillon Baldassero is an LA-based composer, producer, and artist from Toronto, Ontario, working across various mediums and genres. Most recently, he composed the music for the TV series ‘Davey & Jonesie’s Locker,’ a co-production between Amazon Prime and Hulu, and is currently scoring the forthcoming feature ‘Balistic,’ starring Lena Heady (‘Game of Thrones’). While Dillon’s first love was the orchestral compositions of composers like Steve Reich, Thomas Newman, Ennio Morricone and their contemporaries, his work draws equal inspiration from the queer underground, and the pioneering production of avant-pop musicians like Sophie, EASYFUN, oklou and Oneohtrix Point Never.

As a composer, his work has screened at TIFF (‘Mary Goes Round,’ ‘Black Cop’), Cannes (‘Looking Is the Original Sin’), SXSW (‘Rules for Werewolves’), and Fantastic Fest (‘Girl’). For his work on the feature film ‘The Family,’ he was awarded the grand jury prize by the Society of Composers, Authors, and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN).

Dillon is an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre’s Slaight Music Residency, chaired by Academy award winner Mychael Danna (‘Life of Pi’).
